Creatively, I often push the materials I work with to their limits: For this bowl, I stretched the clay a lot and used an unorthodox glaze mix. I knew the risks of it breaking, cracking, or exploding during firing were high. Our human resilience and capacity to survive against enormous odds is often what I want to communicate.
